Last weekend I made a decision to update the portrait of myself, for my 'Artist' page on my website.  I knew I wanted to do something different.  The last photograph I had used was unforgivably old, and I needed something current.  The past 16-months have been the largest transformation of my life since I joined the Marine Corps in 1996.  With that said, a new and improved Wilmington Portrait was exactly I needed.

I decided I wanted to have a single image that captured my greatest priorities and treasures in life.  Pastor Mike from my local church (PC3 - Port City Community Church in Wilmington) challenged the congregation to summarize their new year of spiritual growth, with a single scriptural word.  My new word for this year is 'Treasure', which is based on:

Matthew 6:19-20 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal."

The elements that I wanted to capture symbolically were as follows: My Faith in Christ (Bible), My Family (My Daughter Sierra), My Career (Camera), my other artistic passion (Music) and of course Man's Best Friend (My new puppy Berlin).  :)

If my house were on fire, these are the only treasures I would need. :)
