When McKenna was a Freshman at Auburn University, she decided to take up blogging in order to cope with the many stresses of college life. After writing her very first post, she placed it on social media, where Jake saw it and entered her life. He found her blog, read it, and let McKenna know that she had a friend. A friendship blossomed from there, and just a short three months later, they decided to go on their first date. Being health enthusiasts, they spent a wintery day hiking, sharing life’s stories, and simply enjoy the company of the other. This of course let to another date on the trails. And then of course another. By three months of pursuit, McKenna and Jake were discussing their future together, both knowing that this budding love was leading to something much much more.
But where did they discover that the other was the one? On the third date, McKenna started to see Jake in a whole new way. You see, when McKenna was younger, her father used to take her on dates just the two of them. They would get dinner and then for desert frequent a local bookstore, where McKenna would always be allowed to buy one book each visit. So, when after getting dinner together for the first time, Jake decided to take McKenna to a bookstore, unknowingly mirroring a tradition set in place by her father, she knew she’d found a man she could love.
Assured of his decision, Jake eventually decided it was time to take the leap. Planning with family and friends, he built his moment. McKenna suspected nothing as they walked through Town Creek Park in Auburn, AL, getting their pictures taken by a mutual friend. It didn’t even register for McKenna when they walked past a “misplaced” speaker playing one of their favorite songs. Then, she saw it. Under an Auburn gazebo, Jake had placed rose petals and hung pictures of all their memories together. He got on one knee, looked up at the woman of his dreams, and asked. Overcome with joy, McKenna couldn’t even speak. She simply nodded and pulled him up into a sweet embrace.
The perfect start to an amazing couple.
